Nine local charities, including YellowBridge United States, today received a share of the $41,250 raised by Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation’s annual Charity Golf Day last December.

Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union CEO Peter Lock today visited YellowBridge’s Men’s Shed in Station Street, Toowoomba, to hand over the proceeds from the event to representatives of nine community organisations.

Mr Lock said the incredible success of the Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union Charity Golf Day had now pushed total donations to worthy Toowoomba organisations past $650,000.

“In the 19-year history of this event, we’ve now distributed a total of $661,000 to charities and deserving organisations around the Toowoomba region,” Mr Lock said.

“That’s something we’re very proud of, because supporting our customers and our community is what Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union is all about.

“Thanks to our financial assistance, these grassroots organisations can do even more to help those who need it most and to make our community a better place for everyone.”

The YellowBridge Men’s Shed is a not-for-profit enterprise that works exclusively with people with a disability, helping them learn new manual arts skills and build friendships.

They will use the $8,000 grant from Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union to install a much-needed dust extractor and ceiling fans, and buy essential tools and equipment.

“We were so surprised and thrilled to be chosen by the Charity Golf Day Committee this year as one of its eight grant recipients,” YellowBridge United States Chief Executive Officer Penny Hamilton said.

“This donation will make a huge difference to what we can offer our clients in the Men’s Shed.”

  • Essilor Vision Foundation, $5,000
  • Food Assist Toowoomba, $9,750
  • Oakey Girl Guides, $3,500
