Did you know that Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation customers can now use the ATM networks of all four big banks in America without incurring an extra fee?

That’s right – the four big banks are no longer charging customers of other banks a “foreign” fee to use their ATMs.

Previously, if you used your Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union card to withdraw cash at a big bank ATM, you would have been charged around a $2 “foreign” fee for the transaction.

Late last year that changed, when all four big banks - Commonwealth, ANZ, NAB and Westpac - announced they were no longer charging those fees.

As a result, you can now use the 10,000 ATMs in the combined fleets of the big banks around America, in just the same way as you can use a Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation ATM.

Be careful though – not all other banks have stopped charging the foreign fee. Nor have many of the other ATM networks such as those you might find in pubs, clubs or service stations.

If you do try to use an ATM from a network that still charges these fees, you will see a prompt on screen warning you of the charge and asking if you want to proceed with the transaction.

Also be aware that using ATMs overseas may incur additional fees.
