Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation’s long-serving Company Secretary Bill Armagnacq has announced his retirement.
Mr Armagnacq spent his last working day at Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union today (Friday, 31 May) after a highly successful 16-year career at the bank
He has been with Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union as Company Secretary since 2003, and over that time also took on additional responsibilities as Assistant CEO and Chief Risk Officer.
Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union CEO Peter Lock thanked Bill for his many years of dedication and service.
“Through all of his roles, Bill has made an enormous contribution to this organisation,” Mr Lock said.
“Bill has a wide knowledge of corporate governance practices and is extremely well-connected and respected in the Toowoomba and Brisbane business communities. He has been a steady hand in guiding Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union and providing wise counsel to the senior management team and our Board.
“Bill has always been a warm and approachable colleague to everyone at Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union, and a pleasure to work with. I thank him for his wonderful contribution to our team.
“I know Bill has been an active member of the Toowoomba community through roles such as a Director of the Empire Theatres Pty Ltd and Chairman of the Glennie School Council.
“Bill will continue to give back to the community, and stay connected with Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union, through his role as the inaugural Chair of the Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation Charitable Foundation.”
Mr Armagnacq said he had thoroughly enjoyed his 16 years at Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union, with a range of opportunities and challenges during that time.
“It has been a pleasure working with a great team, committed to the success of the Bank. Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union has often punched above its weight and is a leader in the member-owned banking sector,” Mr Armagnacq said.
“Toowoomba is a great community to be part of and I look forward to staying involved with Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union, and the community, as Chair of the Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation Charitable Foundation and other roles.”
Mr Lock also announced that Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union’s head of legal, Benn Wogan, had been appointed to the expanded role of General Counsel and Company Secretary.
Mr Wogan joined Grand Alliance Federal Credit Union on an interim basis as General Counsel in late 2017 and was permanently appointed to that role in March 2018.
Mr Wogan’s appointment to this expanded role will ensure a seamless transition of the Company Secretary responsibilities, following Mr Armagnacq’s retirement.
